Superhero Brunch at Mazina | The Address Dubai Marina

September 6, 2016 , Haiya

Say the words “Family Brunch” and “Kid Friendly” and you’ve lost me. Don’t hate, but seriously why on Earth would anyone without kids want to spend their hard-earned Friday in an endurance test: dining amongst a bunch of squealing pipsqueaks? Sorry doting parents, but for me, there can be only two reasons why:

  1. Good food, and
  2. The incessant need to leave no stone unturned (restaurant untried).

Lucky for you, I have a serious case of 2., and since I put my stomach on the line so you don’t have to, I can safely confirm that the Superhero Brunch at The Address Dubai Marina worth your dime and your time.

Since the brunch is one that both couples, and families with kids can enjoy, it has secured itself a spot on my list of recommended brunches- and is now the first place I recommend to my parent-friends who want to go to a brunch that welcomes kids but allows them to kick back and enjoy some grown-up food too.

The layout of Mazina is amazingly spacious and even with bouncy castles, slides, face-painting and superheroes aplenty; it doesn’t feel chaotic or noisy at all. In fact, if you choose, you can almost entirely disconnected from the children’s activities- which I did.

I’m definitely one to enjoy a quite meal, and my heart sank when Magic Phil the magician approached our table, offering some tricks; but the guy is actually quite the charming entertainer and he ended up leaving us with a couple of genuine laughs and pretty cool tricks.

Let’s talk about the most important thing to me now: the food. I was NOT expecting such an amazing spread, and only 15 mins into the brunch, I decided that this family brunch needs to be loudly broadcasted. The spread was really fantastic! There were choices of Asian, Indian, healthy, seafood, sushi, roasts, mezze, breads, salads, British, and even non-halal options. Of course I didn’t try the non-halal options, and of course the Asian station was my first stop.

At most brunches and buffets, in fact even at most so-called Asian theme nights, the “Asian” food is mediocre at best. I was surprised by how huge the variety of Asian options was, and how truly unadulterated and purely Asian the dishes tastes. Some of the dim sum tasted so authentic that even I couldn’t palate them, but my Asian husband savored every last bite. My favorite items were the Mushrooms and Bok Choy in Black Bean Sauce, the Satay with Peanut Sauce, Pecking Duck Rolls, Thai Fish Cake (it was so strongly fragranced with lemongrass- just as I had hoped), and the Virgin Raspberry Mojito (sugar-free, as we requested, and so so refreshing).

I was also extremely fascinated by the little buffet for kids, which was little only in height, but expansive in variety! Cupcakes, Oreo cheesecake, waffles, pizza, noodles and so much more that kids could help themselves to on colorful plastic plates. I’d be lying if I said I didn’t steal some of their food!

The one thing I was surprised about was that I didn’t see any breakfast items other than bread and waffles. No Eggs, for instance. Anyway, who even wants to have eggs when you’ve got so much awesome food? Not I.

The best and most attractive part about this brunch (for kids and parents), is that kids are encourgaed to dress up as superheroes, and one lucky child will win his/her parents either afternoon tea at Kambaa, or another brunch at Mazina! Let me know if you try it out, and let me know what you think!
