I had you at “Billo”, didn’t I? They had me at “Billo”, too.
Yesterday was a fun day. Brunch at Little mOre cafe. Then an early dinner with these delightful friends of ours. The hosts had prepared quite a spread, all of which we thoroughly enjoyed, but the mouthwatering Feta and Sundried Tomatoes turnovers were so phenomenal that I’ll need to make those and post a recipe soon!
For dessert, they wanted to take us out for some Kunafe. I suggested trying out Billo Icecream instead, as I’ve been meaning to go there ever since I saw it’s pictures and read the reviews on Zomato. My friend and her husband were quite psyched at the prospect of Falooda (Billo’s speacialty), and so we proceeded to Oud Metha.
Boy oh boy. Billo did not disappoint. This was such a unique experience and Billo Icecream is most certainly a hidden gem, far from the reach and knowledge of the tourists that flood Cold Stone and Haagen-Dazs.
The brightly colored interiors reminiscent of Pakistan’s signature truck art were a breath of fresh air!
The place was jam packed and finding parking was like gold. But hey, what’s a Friday night without some adventure, right?
We ordered a Punjabi Falooda and a Pista Falooda. The former was Kulfi with Rabri and Falooda. The latter was Kulfa ice cream, Pistachio ice cream, and Falooda. Both were flawlessly delicious and quite close to the authentic versions one can expect to find in their land of origin itself.
Prices are very reasonable, at about AED 17 -give or take- per sundae!
All in all, a very different experience and a great find!
